Mapping the Global Croquet Network
Croquet is organized through a hierarchical structure with the World Croquet Federation (WCF) at the apex, national associations as members, and individual clubs forming the grassroots foundation. This page maps the organizational structure from global to local levels, with particular focus on Canada's position within this network.
World Croquet Federation (WCF)
The World Croquet Federation is the world governing body for croquet, founded in 1986 with the first General Meeting held at the first World Championship in July 1989.
Mission
To make the various codes of the game "well-known, well-understood, well-respected and well-supported sports in countries throughout the world."
Membership Categories
Full Members (13)
Full Members can cast votes in WCF Council decisions and have between 2-8 votes depending on the number of individual members they represent.

Associate Members (6)
Associate Members have voting rights with one vote each in WCF Council decisions.

Recognised Croquet Organisations (10)
RCOs do not have voting rights but receive all papers and are encouraged to express views on matters before the Council.

Governance Structure
The WCF is managed by its Member associations through the WCF Council, which consists of representatives from each WCF Member. The work of the Council is carried out largely by e-mail debates initiated by the Management Committee (MC) and managed by the Secretary-General.

Croquet Canada - National Structure
Croquet Canada is Canada's national croquet association and a Full Member of the World Croquet Federation. As a non-profit organization run by volunteers, Croquet Canada guides the development of the sport within Canada and serves as the conduit for Canadian players to connect with the international croquet community.
Organizational Model
Unlike some sports organizations, Croquet Canada operates through direct club affiliation rather than provincial or regional associations. Individual clubs across Canada affiliate directly with Croquet Canada.

United States Croquet Association - National Structure
The United States Croquet Association (USCA) is America's national croquet association and a Full Member of the World Croquet Federation. Founded in 1976, the USCA has grown to nearly 400 member clubs with approximately 3,500 members across the United States.
The USCA headquarters is located in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Regional Structure
The USCA operates through a regional administrative structure with Regional Vice Presidents overseeing geographic areas including Southeast, Florida, Midwest, and Western regions. Regional championships and tournaments are held throughout the year across these regions.

The Fraser Valley Croquet Society (FVCS) operates as an independent croquet organization outside the formal WCF/Croquet Canada governance hierarchy. FVCS is a peer organization to national associations like Croquet Canada and the United States Croquet Association, not a subordinate or intermediary body.

Independent BC Society
Registered BC Society (S0075824) with independent governance, legal standing, and no reporting responsibilities to Croquet Canada or any other croquet organization.
Peer Organization
Operates at the same organizational level as national associations, with direct affiliations to clubs and programs rather than through hierarchical channels.
Regional Development Focus
Focuses on expanding croquet opportunities in the Fraser Valley through recreation courses, club support, and community outreach programs.
